Continue Your Game: The Jam - Devlog #9: Jam Wrap Up!
Well, I'm calling it a day early! Did I get everything that I was planning on doing finished? No. Did I do a lot more than I thought? Yeah!
This last bit has been spent on my beleaguered opening cutscene. It still isn't totally perfect but, it's a bit better. Most of my effort was making it more readable where the potato was coming from and making it look less like a sudden poo. There are still mixels on the sign and I'm stumped on how to get rid of them, but I'm determined to find a way.
I also fixed my worst enemy: The purple ambush guy in room 1-7 (aka Fiend)! His death animation is more finished looking and it turns out that his dodge roll counter was busted so he's a lot more manageable now, which is a good thing because I'm planning on bringing him back for future rooms.
And! I have moved the attack key from CTRL to the / Key, because people were reporting back that they were accidentally closing the window by pressing CTRL + W. Hopefully this makes things better.
Overall, I'd say that the jam was good for my productivity. I do feel, however, that doing these makes me focus on making the game "bigger" rather than making the game more polished. I have a lot of more level to build, but the game that I have is starting to feel a little empty? It may be good for me to take a small break and return with an eye towards making what I have better instead of just rushing to make more rooms, as fun as that is.
I don't want to talk about what's going on with the Dodgers but I hope they win tomorrow.
